Orange punch – Fruity and warming cocktail
Hot drinks are always welcome in the cold season. This is also true for the orange punch. You can often find this alcoholic beverage at festivities or markets. But many believe that the homemade versions taste better.
It doesn’t even need much to mix the cocktail at home. The secret ingredient of the drink is of course the freshly squeezed orange juice. A good shot of rum and wine also shouldn’t be missing to make the punch perfect.
How does the orange punch taste?
Well, the cocktail is, as the name suggests, very fruity. It has less sugar and more vitamins than traditional cocktails, due to the fresh oranges in the drink.
When buying citrus fruits like oranges, be sure to look for ones that are organically grown. Pesticides are typically used to protect “regular” fruits from pests.
The oranges add a nice flavor in combination with a variety of rums and liqueurs. You can enjoy the punch in winter as well as in summer.

Tips for the perfect orange punch
When preparing the punch, be careful not to boil it. It should only be heated. Boiling it will destroy a lot of the flavors, which will affect the taste.
Simply add a little grated organic fruit, like orange or lemon, to the punch to give it some spice.
Adding black or fruit tea to the freshly squeezed orange juice also tastes good. But the heat of the tea lowers the alcohol content of the orange punch.
Orange punch with Aperol
As an alternative to the orange punch with rum, like in our recipe, you can also prepare the punch with Aperol. Which, of course, gives it an entirely different flavor. Simply use Aperol instead of rum, and add a little more if you like.
